Broman’s Lane, East Mersea · CO 5 8UE

Cudmore Grove provides an established public base for birdwatching on East Mersea. Essex County Council’s current visitor guide highlights winter Wigeon, Teal and Brent Goose on the grazing fields, with a pond hide and estuary views adding variety. The open grassland and seawall routes suit a settled local visit rather than a hurried island circuit. Use the public paths and look out across the water; this is not permission to enter the closed East Mersea intertidal flats. The park combines wildlife watching with family recreation, so choose a quieter stretch and keep cliff-edge and tidal risks in mind.
