Riverside Way, Rotherham
Centenary Riverside is a dedicated wetland reserve beside the River Don, created on former steelworks land near Rotherham. Sheffield and Rotherham Wildlife Trust names summer Sand Martin, Reed Warbler among the reeds and Kingfisher using the site's island habitats. Surfaced paths along the upper flood-defence bank provide a defined approach, with informal routes and a lagoon boardwalk adding closer habitat views when available. The reserve also stores floodwater, so access can close in wet weather. This is a compact river-and-reedbed stop; check conditions before travelling and use only the routes that are open.
