Bankhead Moss protects a small raised bog near Peat Inn, combining open wetland with woodland, pools and scrapes. The Trust names Curlew, Snipe and Lapwing among its birds, giving the water margins as much interest as the specialised bog plants. This is a place to explore along the existing paths rather than across the moss surface. Grazing animals help shape the habitat, and their presence also affects access. The current operator notice says its Flying Flock is grazing the bog dome. Keep the visit quiet and allow space around livestock.
