Beacon Hill, near Stokenchurch · HP14 3YL
Aston Rowant offers chalk grassland, beech woodland and juniper on the Chiltern escarpment. Red Kite provides a reason to watch the sky, while winter Fieldfare and Redwing bring attention back to berry-bearing vegetation and sheltered edges. Leave time for both views rather than treating the grassland as a single open panorama. Natural England describes two different parking approaches, which makes choosing a starting point part of planning the walk. The Beacon Hill approach and Cowleaze Wood are separate arrivals, not interchangeable labels for one entrance. Select a manageable route and enjoy the change between open hillside and wooded ground.
