Near Birdlip, between Gloucester and Cheltenham
Crickley Hill offers birdwatching where limestone grassland and scrub meet beech woodland on the Cotswold escarpment. Kestrel, Green Woodpecker and Great Spotted Woodpecker appear in the Trust’s reserve species list, giving a named-bird focus alongside the hill’s wider wildlife interest. Choose a trail that matches the terrain you want: some routes are accessible, while others cross steep scree or become muddy. Begin at the managed visitor arrival and spend time along the grassland and woodland edges. The views are part of the setting, but this entry’s birding value comes from those contrasting habitats.
