Carding Mill Valley, Church Stretton
Carding Mill Valley is a practical starting point for birdwatching on the Long Mynd, with streams below the open heath and grassland. The National Trust’s spring account names Willow Warbler, Redstart and Cuckoo as returning migrants, giving the hill-and-valley walk a clear seasonal focus. Start beside the visitor facilities and choose a route suited to the climb you want to make. The plateau and its valleys are covered as one destination here. Stay on the appropriate public paths through this grazed landscape and allow for the steep, exposed ground beyond the lower valley.
